No points in the Lausitz

Team Rosberg and its two drivers Nico Müller and Dev Gore, did not have a good day at the 4.562-kilometer Lausitzring. For the first time, the racetrack was driven with the elevated curve 1, which was a special challenge for the teams. At the third round of the DTM season, Swiss Müller sled into the gravel after a slight collision in midfield and fell back to the end of the field. As he was the last to complete the mandatory pit stop, he was leading the race for a long time. In summerlike temperatures, he finally saw the finish line in 13th place. In 12th position, his US team-mate Gore finished a bit better but did not have a great afternoon either: During lap one, he had to evade an opponent next to the track and then continue to race at the end of the field. Müller is now sixth in the drivers’ standings.

Nico Müller: “So far, we have been too slow over the weekend, especially during the qualifying. Things got slightly better during the race, but generally speaking, it was not great. And as if that was not enough, I briefly ended up off the track, after a minor encounter in the turmoil. In the end, I was given a five-second penalty for an incident at the pit stop.”

Dev Gore: “We were too slow in both, qualifying and race. In the beginning, I had to quickly get off track to avoid an accident with a Lamborghini. Since this was followed by a safety car phase, I was able to catch up, but that was really all I could do today.“

Kimmo Liimatainen (Team Principal): “The conditions were not easy this weekend. For the first time, we are racing through the elevated first corner at the Lausitzring. Consequently, the three-day test that we did before the season without Turn 1 didn’t help us much. But I don’t want to look for excuses, since the other teams seem to have done better than us. Other than that, Dev drove a clean race. After Nico had no more chance to achieve a good result, we wanted to see how the tires performed over the distance. The fact that at the end both drivers received a five-second time penalty, because, after each pit stop, a mechanic brought two tires at once into the pits, fits right in with our not so lucky Saturday.”
